The Open Top container has removable roof bows and a tarpaulin instead of a fixed steel roof. Bulky or heavy goods that do not fit through the door opening are lowered in from above by crane – glass panes, machinery, bulk goods, long profiles. The top door header can often be swung out to make use of the full interior height.
For stationary purposes, the Open Top is practical if you want to load and unload from above or if a roof opening (skylight, roof terrace, service penetration) is planned as part of the conversion. Disadvantage: the tarpaulin is more prone to wear and less burglar-proof than a steel roof.
