Anyone who wants to buy a Rent refrigerated containers usually needs additional cooling capacity quickly: for a catering event, harvest processing, as buffer cooling when stationary equipment fails, or for a seasonal storage peak. Coin Container rents out refrigerated and freezer containers (reefers) as well as insulated containers – delivered ready for operation, with a dedicated contact person and, on request, with a diesel generator, so no mains connection is needed.

Sizes and temperature ranges at a glance
Chilled and frozen operation can be selected on the same unit: for fresh goods +2 to +8 °C is usually sufficient; frozen goods need −18 °C or colder.
| Size | Usable cooling space | Pallet spaces | Temperature range | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 ft | approx. 12 m³ | ~4 | approx. −20 to +20 °C | Small requirements, limited space |
| 20 ft | approx. 28 m³ | ~10 | approx. −25 to +25 °C | standard for catering and harvest |
| 40 ft | approx. 58 m³ | ~21 | approx. −25 to +25 °C | large quantities, continuous operation |
| 40 ft High Cube | approx. 67 m³ | ~21 | approx. −25 to +25 °C | Bulky goods, tall packages |

Refrigerated container or insulated container?
- Refrigerated containers (reefers): with a refrigeration unit, actively controlled, for continuous temperature management – the right choice when goods must reliably stay cold for days or weeks.
- Insulated container: passively insulated, without a refrigeration unit – keeps a given temperature stable for a few hours. Useful as buffer storage, for short transports or as a temperate technical and storage room. If you need the format permanently: Buy an insulated container.
How much does it cost to rent a refrigerated container?
The rental price depends on size, temperature range and rental period. In addition, there are one-off costs for delivery and collection; the renter bears the electricity costs during continuous operation. A reefer draws considerable power – depending on outside temperature, set point and door openings, several kilowatt-hours per hour. Power connection and placement
A refrigerated container generally needs a 400 V three-phase connection (CEE, usually 16–32 A). If there is no mains connection on site, we deliver the container with a generator set (genset) – in that case the refrigeration runs on diesel.
Siting requirements:
- load-bearing, level surface (compacted gravel, concrete slabs or asphalt)
- clear truck access and, if needed, space for the truck-mounted crane to offload the container at the exact spot
- some distance from windows and occupied areas because of the waste heat and fan noise of the refrigeration unit
Reliability: PTI and temperature control
Our rental units are inspected before delivery (PTI – Pre-Trip Inspection): refrigeration circuit, seals, controls and data logger. The temperature is regulated and can be logged – important for food and pharma users with HACCP requirements. In the event of a fault you can reach us directly and we respond at short notice.
Which size for which need?
- Event catering: a 20 ft container covers the refrigeration needs of a mid-sized festival or town fair.
- Harvest processing: 40 ft or several 20 ft containers, depending on daily throughput and lead time.
- Backup cooling in case of failure: choose the size based on the volume of goods at risk – when in doubt, one size larger so that there is also room for replenishment.
Rental process
- Enquiry – size, temperature range, rental period, delivery location, power supply.
