So that you don't have to worry about anything when buying a container, our service includes reliable delivery throughout Germany and across Europe.
Coin Container organises the transport of shipping containers throughout Germany and Europe – from the depot to your desired delivery location.
Depending on the container, route and local conditions, delivery is by truck, crane truck, side loader, rail or inland waterway vessel. Combined transport solutions and self-collection from the depot are also possible.
On request, we not only handle the transport but also organise the unloading and positioning of the container on site.
This way, you get the container and logistics from a single source.
Container transport from a single source
Container transport does not start with the truck.
Which depot location is suitable? Which mode of transport is needed? Does the container have to be offloaded at the customer's site? Is the access sufficient for a side loader or crane truck? For a longer route, does a combination of rail, inland waterway vessel and truck make sense?
Coin Container takes these factors into account right from the transport planning stage.
We organise transport for 20 ft, 40 ft and High Cube containers as well as refrigerated containers and various special containers.
We can arrange transport for single containers as well as deliveries of multiple units and project transports.
What transport options does Coin Container offer?
Container transport with a crane truck
A crane truck is particularly suitable if no unloading equipment is available at the delivery location.
The container is delivered by truck and then offloaded using the loading crane mounted on the vehicle.
To allow safe unloading, the crane truck needs sufficient working space.
| Requirement | Guide value |
|---|---|
| Working width | at least 7 m |
| Working height | at least 7,50 m |
| Space in front of or behind the container | at least 2 m |
| Ground surface | suitable for 40-tonne vehicles and outriggers |
Depending on the vehicle used, the crane can be extended to the right or left in the direction of travel.

Container transport with a side loader
With a side loader, the container can be offloaded directly beside the vehicle.
This type of transport is particularly suitable if the container is to be positioned directly next to the access road or the vehicle and sufficient space is available.
| Requirement | Guide value |
|---|---|
| Working width | at least 7 m |
| Working height | at least 5,50 m |
| Space in front of or behind the container | at least 2 m |
| Ground surface | suitable for 40-tonne vehicles and outriggers |
The side loader extends to the right in the direction of travel.
Please note that, according to our transport conditions, a 40 ft container is transported with the doors facing the rear. If the container needs to be turned at the delivery location, additional lifts may be required.
If two 20 ft containers are transported together, they can only be set down one behind the other in a single lift. Individual positioning may require additional lifts.
Container transport by truck without offloading
If a suitable crane or other unloading facility is already available at the delivery location, the container can be delivered on a container chassis.
In this case, Coin Container organises the transport to the delivery location, while unloading is carried out by the customer.
This option is suitable, for example, for construction sites and industrial and logistics sites with their own unloading equipment.

Container transport by rail
For longer distances, rail transport can be an alternative or a complement to direct road transport.
The main leg can be carried out by rail and combined with truck pre-carriage or on-carriage.
For example, Coin Container offers rail transport to various German terminals. The current transport overview lists Berlin, Leipzig, Nuremberg, Munich, Kornwestheim, Augsburg, Ulm and Gernsheim, among others.
Which combination is suitable depends on the departure depot, destination, container size and availability.
Container transport by inland waterway vessel
Depending on the origin and destination regions, an inland waterway vessel can also be part of a transport solution.
Different modes of transport can be combined, for example:
Seaport / depot → inland vessel → inland port / terminal → truck → delivery location
Whether inland waterway transport makes sense for a specific route is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
What ground surface is required for container delivery?
Together with the container, container transport vehicles reach a high gross weight. The access road and unloading area must therefore be sufficiently paved and load-bearing.
According to our transport conditions, unpaved ground cannot be driven on for insurance reasons. Particularly during offloading, the vehicle and outriggers generate high point loads.
The container's final location should also be as level and stable as possible.
Depending on the soil conditions and container weight, suitable support plates or a suitably prepared surface may be advisable.
Adequate drainage also helps to avoid standing water under the container.

Are you unsure whether your access road is suitable?
Send us photos of the access road and the desired placement location together with your enquiry. This allows the conditions to be taken into account before delivery.
Have your delivery site checked
How much space does a container delivery require?
Container vehicles, especially crane trucks and side loaders, require significantly more space than a normal truck.
In addition to sufficient access, there must therefore be enough manoeuvring and working space.
For vehicles with unloading equipment, side outriggers are extended. Coin Container's transport conditions expressly point out that sufficient space and manoeuvring area are required at the placement site.
For crane trucks and side loaders, the working width and working height requirements stated above also apply.
Please also take into account trees, buildings, roof overhangs, power lines, street lamps or other obstacles.
How to prepare for container delivery
Before the delivery date, the access route and placement area should be prepared and freely accessible.
A responsible contact person must be reachable or present at the delivery location. Please provide Coin Container with the relevant contact details and a mobile number before delivery.
For difficult access routes, we recommend providing photos and relevant information before the transport is ordered.
This allows possible delivery problems to be identified early.
Avoiding waiting times and failed trips
If the access route is blocked when the vehicle arrives, the placement site is not prepared, or the container cannot be offloaded as agreed for other reasons caused by the customer, additional costs may be incurred.
Coin Container's transport conditions provide that waiting times caused by the consignee may be charged according to the applicable transport rate.
If a delivery cannot be carried out because requirements are not met, costs for transport, waiting time, return transport and depot handling may also be incurred.
Prior coordination is therefore particularly advisable for narrow or unusual delivery locations.
Collecting the container yourself
As an alternative to delivery organised by Coin Container, self-collection from the depot can be agreed depending on the order.
In this case, the customer is responsible for a suitable means of transport.
In accordance with our transport conditions, delivery to depots and terminals is made on a suitable container chassis with appropriate locks or twistlocks for load securing.
The collection date and depot information are agreed as part of order processing.

Container transport in Germany and Europe
Coin Container organises container transport throughout Germany and Europe.
A container for a customer in Germany does not necessarily have to be delivered from Hamburg.
Depending on the delivery location and container availability, other depot locations may also be economically sensible. For customers in western Germany, for example, containers from Rotterdam or Antwerp may be an option.
This can reduce transport distances and transport costs.
