2.1. Provision of the website and creation of log files
Each time our website is accessed, our system automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing device. The following data is collected:
- Information about the browser type and version used
- The user's operating system
- The user's internet service provider
- The user's IP address
- Date and time of access
- Websites from which the user's system reaches our website
- Websites accessed by the user's system via our website
The legal basis for the temporary storage of the data and log files is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable the website to be delivered to the user's computer; for this purpose, the IP address must remain stored for the duration of the session. Storage in log files also takes place to ensure the functionality of the website and to safeguard the security of our IT systems (e.g. to investigate misuse and fraud). These purposes also constitute our legitimate interest in data processing under Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. Log file data is automatically deleted after 7 days, unless further retention is required to investigate a specific security incident.
2.2. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies (e.g. local storage methods, hereinafter collectively “cookies”) on our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device and can be read again when you revisit our website.
We distinguish between the following categories:
- Technically necessary cookies: These are absolutely required to provide the website and to deliver functions you have explicitly requested (e.g. cart, login session, security settings). Under § 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG they are exempt from the consent requirement; the legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. b, f GDPR.
- Functional cookies: These enable convenience-related functions (e.g. saving language settings).
- Statistics/analytics cookies: These are used for audience measurement and analysis of user behaviour (see section 2.4 for details).
- Marketing cookies: These are used to display advertising tailored to your needs and to measure the success of advertising campaigns (see section 2.3 for details).
Cookies in categories b) to d) are used in accordance with § 25 (1) TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR only if you have given your explicit consent beforehand via the cookie consent tool provided on our website. The cookie consent tool provides you with detailed information on the provider, purpose, storage period and third-country transfer of each cookie used; there you can give your consent selectively, review it at any time and withdraw it with effect for the future. In addition, you can deactivate cookies across the board via your browser settings, but this does not replace the granular control offered by the cookie consent tool. Please note that if you reject non-essential cookies, some functions of our website may be restricted.
2.3. Online marketing
2.3.1. Google Ads conversion tracking
This website uses the online advertising programme “Google Ads” and, as part of Google Ads, the conversion tracking of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D4 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”). We use Google Ads to draw attention to our range by means of advertising materials on external websites and to evaluate the success of individual advertising measures. The conversion tracking cookie is set when a user clicks on an ad served by Google; it generally expires after 30 days and is not used for personal identification. Google and we can use the cookie to recognise that a user has clicked on the ad and has been redirected to our site; in doing so, we do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.
The processing of personal data in the context of Google Ads conversion tracking is based on the Google-provided controller-to-controller data processing terms for measurement services. In this respect, Google acts not as a processor but as an independent controller or, to the extent provided by law, as a joint controller with us within the meaning of Art. 26 GDPR; we hereby draw your attention to the collection under Art. 26 GDPR.
When Google Ads is used, personal data is transferred to Google LLC, based in the USA. Where Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for the respective transfer purpose, this transfer is based on the adequacy decision of the EU Commission of 10 July 2023 (Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795). As a fallback, and for processing not covered by the adequacy decision, we have agreed on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses with Google. You can find details on the processing triggered by Google Ads conversion tracking at https://policies.google.com/
All processing described above only takes place if you have given your express consent via our cookie consent tool pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by deactivating this service in the cookie consent tool. In addition, you can permanently object to the setting of cookies by Google Ads conversion tracking by installing the Google browser plug-in available at https://www.google.com/
2.3.2. Google Marketing Platform
This website uses the online marketing tool Google Marketing Platform of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D4 E5W5, Ireland ("GMP"). GMP uses cookies to display ads relevant to users, to improve campaign performance reports and to avoid the same ad being shown multiple times. Using a cookie ID, Google records which ads were displayed in which browser and can use this to record so-called conversions. According to Google, GMP cookies do not contain personal information; however, through the integration of GMP, Google receives the information that you have accessed the relevant part of our website or clicked on one of our ads, and, if you are logged in to a Google service, can assign the visit to your account.
When GMP is used, personal data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; in this respect, what is set out in section 2.3.1 regarding the adequacy decision and the standard contractual clauses applies accordingly. All processing described only takes place if you have given your express consent via our cookie consent tool pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR; without consent, GMP is not used. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via the cookie consent tool. Further information on the GMP privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/
2.4. Web analytics with Google Analytics 4
This website uses Google Analytics 4 ("GA4"), a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D4 E5W5, Ireland ("Google"), which enables an analysis of your use of our website. For this purpose, GA4 uses cookies or comparable technologies that are stored on your device. Unlike the earlier Universal Analytics, GA4 does not, according to Google, record or store full IP addresses; the IP address is only used to determine your approximate location and is then discarded. The data collected by GA4 is transferred to Google servers and further processed there; transfers to Google LLC in the USA are possible. In this respect, what is set out in section 2.3.1 regarding the adequacy decision and the standard contractual clauses applies accordingly.
Google processes the collected data on our behalf on the basis of a data processing agreement concluded with us pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR, in order to evaluate your use of the website and to compile reports on website activity for us. The collected data is not merged with other Google data. The retention period for user- and event-related data is set to 14 months in our GA4 account; after this period has expired, the data is deleted automatically.
All processing described above, in particular the setting of cookies and access to information on your device, only takes place if you have given your express consent via our cookie consent tool pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG. Without your consent, GA4 is not used. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via the cookie consent tool. Further information on Google Analytics is available at https://policies.google.com/
2.5. Contact request via our contact form
On our website at www.coin-container.de/kontakt-beratung we provide a contact form through which you can send us an enquiry about our products and services, in particular a request for advice or a quote. When you use the contact form, we collect the data you enter there, in particular your name, your company name, your telephone number, your e-mail address, your address and the content of your message; in addition, your IP address and an internal reference number for assigning the enquiry are recorded automatically when the form is submitted. Alternatively, you can also send us your enquiry by e-mail; in this case, we process the data you provide in the e-mail to the same extent.
The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR where your enquiry relates to the preparation or performance of a contract with us; otherwise, in particular for general information requests unrelated to a contract, we base the processing on our legitimate interest in handling and answering the enquiries addressed to us, Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR.
Data you submit as part of the enquiry will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required to handle your enquiry, but at the latest one year after the final response, unless the enquiry leads to a contractual relationship, to which section 2.6 applies, or statutory retention obligations prevent deletion.
If your enquiry is statistically analysed by means of ChatGPT as part of the evaluation described in section 2.7, the statements made there apply in addition.
2.6. Conclusion of contract, order and payment processing
We process your data to the extent necessary for initiating and performing the purchase contract concluded with you, in particular for processing your order and handling the payment transaction. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR.
Order data includes in particular:
- Details of the products ordered, such as item numbers
- Name and e-mail address
- Billing and delivery address
- Payment data
- Order numbers
- Details of returns and complaints (e.g. reasons for return, defect notifications)
