With the Tilt chassis (also “tilt chassis” or roll-off method), the trailer is raised at the front and the container slides back on rollers to the ground in a controlled way. This is faster and cheaper than offloading with a loader crane, but there are two conditions:
- Behind the offloading point there must be several metres of clear roll-off space .
- The container is set down roughly in place, not to the centimetre – for exact positioning, you need a crane truck.
For an open site with vehicle access, the tilt chassis is usually the most economical delivery method. For tight sites, placement against a wall or on point foundations, there is no way around the Truck with loader crane .
Delivery methods compared: Have a shipping container delivered and offloaded.
