Standard or High Cube?
The High Cube is 30 cm taller (internally ~2,70 m instead of 2,39 m) with the same floor area. This pays off if you still need standing headroom after insulating the interior, if you transport tall packages, or if you stack pallets two high. For simple floor storage, the Standard is sufficient.
New, one-way or used?
Ein gebrauchter 40 Fuß Container im Zustand „Wind and Watertight“ ist für Lager und Baustelle völlig ausreichend. Für Umbauten und sichtbare Aufstellung greift man zum One-way container; a specific company colour can be achieved by container painting. One 40 ft or two 20 ft?
For the same required length, a 40 ft container offers slightly more volume than two 20 ft containers and costs less than two separate containers. Two 20 ft containers, however, have advantages that often matter more: they can be placed separately or delivered to two locations, moved individually, rented out separately or resold, and each has its own pair of doors – in a 40 ft container, everything behind the last pallet can only be reached by walking the entire length. If you regularly remove stored goods, two smaller units usually serve you better: Buy a 20 ft container.
How much does a 40 ft container cost?
A used 40 ft container costs in the mid four-figure range, a High Cube somewhat more, and a one-way container considerably more.

Delivery and placement
The 40 ft container is delivered by truck or low-loader, with a loader crane on request. For placement you need a load-bearing, level surface over the full length and generous access. Details: Container transport and logistics.
Realistically assessing the space required
The 40 ft container is considerably more demanding to place than the 20 ft. The vehicle with trailer is around 18 metres long and needs a correspondingly large turning circle; a crane truck also needs lateral swing room. It is also important that the surface is level over the full length – even a dip in the middle means the container rests on its ends, sags and the doors no longer close properly. If access is tight, we check in advance whether the container can be offloaded elsewhere and moved with a forklift: Have a shipping container delivered and offloaded.
